Indore ASI Dismissed After Allegedly Orchestrating Brother’s Murder; Believed to Have Fled Abroad

Shivpuri/Indore, MP: Bhanu Pratap Singh Tomar, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted in Indore, has been dismissed from police service after being named the prime suspect in the murder of his brother, Ajay Singh, in Subhashpura police station area, Shivpuri. Authorities believe he may have fled abroad.

According to Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia, DCP Headquarters Prakash Parihar terminated ASI Bhanu Pratap Singh Tomar citing disciplinary violations, conspiratorial behavior, and misconduct. Investigations revealed that Bhanu Pratap’s name emerged in the Shivpuri shooting case, where his brother was killed, and a reward of ₹10,000 was announced for information leading to his capture.

Suspicious Attendance After Brother’s Murder
Reports indicate that Bhanu Pratap took leave for five days starting 21 July 2025. During this period, his brother Ajay Singh was murdered on 23 July. Shockingly, Bhanu Pratap returned to Indore on 24 July and recorded his attendance at his office, despite being a prime suspect in the case. Following the revelation of his involvement, he went into hiding. Police sources suggest he may have fled the country.

Background of the Case
The incident in Subhashpura, Shivpuri, involves a long-standing family conflict. Ajay Singh had previously attempted to kill their father, Inspector Hanuman Singh Tomar, and was jailed. Bhanu Pratap was later appointed ASI as a compassionate posting. In July 2025, following his brother’s parole, Ajay was murdered in an alleged conspiracy orchestrated by Bhanu Pratap, who reportedly enlisted the help of a criminal to carry out the killing. Upon discovery of his involvement, Shivpuri police filed a case against him.

Authorities continue to search for the fugitive ASI while investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder and his potential international escape.
