The iconic Ahmedabad Railway Station is on the brink of a historic transformation. It is being redeveloped into the country’s tallest and most advanced 16-storey multi-modal transport hub, a project that promises to redefine the future of transportation not just in Gujarat, but across India. According to Western Railway, work on the mega project is progressing at a rapid pace, and the station is expected to be fully ready by July 2027.
A Next-Generation Station Like Never Before
The upcoming structure is designed to be far more than a traditional railway station. With its height, architecture and futuristic facilities, the new hub will stand as a landmark in modern urban mobility.
The 16-floor complex will feature:
- Massive multi-level parking zones
- Office spaces and commercial areas

The layout has been planned to connect railways, metro services, bus routes and the upcoming bullet train corridor under one roof—offering passengers unmatched convenience and smooth connectivity.

Western Railway DRM Ved Prakash described the redevelopment as a part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary plan for India’s transport infrastructure. He emphasized that the new station will be seamlessly connected to every corner of the city, ensuring ease of access for all passengers.
Area Surrounding the Station to Be Fully Redeveloped
Officials also confirmed that the redevelopment plan extends beyond the station premises. The entire surrounding area will undergo infrastructure enhancement to manage the rising passenger load expected over the coming decades.
Improved roads, enhanced bus services, metro links and integration with the future Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor will transform this zone into Ahmedabad’s most important transportation hub.
