
Bengaluru / California: A concerning case has emerged in California, USA, where 22-year-old Indian student Saketh Sreenivasaiah from Karnataka has been missing for the past five days. Saketh, a graduate of IIT Madras, was last seen near Lake Anza in the Berkeley Hills area. Authorities and the student’s family are working closely with local law enforcement to locate him.
Background
Saketh, a chemical engineering graduate from IIT Madras (Class of 2025), is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UC Berkeley. Reports indicate that he went missing on 9 February. During a search near the campus, a backpack belonging to Saketh was found at Tilden Regional Park, containing his passport and laptop.
Search Operations Underway
The Indian Consulate in San Francisco confirmed that a thorough search operation is ongoing around Lake Anza and nearby Berkeley Hills areas. Authorities and family members are in constant coordination to locate him. Berkeley Police have provided Saketh’s description: approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing around 160 pounds (73 kg).
Call for Public Assistance
Saketh’s roommate, Baneet Singh, has appealed for help on LinkedIn, urging anyone with information to come forward. Baneet stated:
“My roommate, Saketh Sreenivasaiah, has been missing since Monday, 9 February. He was last seen near Lake Anza in the Berkeley Hills. If anyone knows someone who might have seen him recently, please share any information. We are working closely with the police to find him. These are difficult times for us. Please help in any way possible.”
The student’s disappearance has raised serious concern among friends, family, and the Indian community in California. Authorities continue to investigate all leads while the search remains active.
