Indian Rock Pythons Spark Fear in MP Village, Seek Shelter in Hay Amid Cold

Sagar, MP: Residents of Sanodha village in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, are living in fear as several Indian Rock Pythons have been spotted near local farmlands. Farmers report that these massive snakes, measuring 8 to 10 feet long, have repeatedly taken shelter in haystacks, creating panic in the area.

The snakes’ sudden appearance has left locals anxious and sleepless, as the reptiles are often seen near livestock and storage areas. Over the past week, three pythons have been rescued from haystacks with the help of wildlife experts, yet new sightings continue to alarm residents.

Rescues by Snake Catcher

Snake catcher Aqeel Baba, who has been actively involved in these rescues, said that he received a call from the Forest Department about another large python hiding in a haystack near the previously spotted locations. Accompanied by his son Asad Khan, Aqeel carefully located the snake, which was about 8 feet long, and safely removed it from the stack.

Natural Habitat Nearby

Aqeel Baba explained that the surrounding hilly and rocky terrain may serve as a natural habitat for these pythons. With dropping temperatures, the snakes appear to be seeking warm and secure places, such as haystacks, to escape the cold. While two pythons have already been rescued in the past week, locals report sightings of more snakes in the vicinity, keeping the community on edge.

Authorities urge residents to remain cautious and avoid approaching these snakes, while wildlife experts continue monitoring the area to ensure human and animal safety.
