India Acted on Lord Ram’s Ideals During Operation Sindoor: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Ayodhya

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that India followed the ideals of Lord Ram during Operation Sindoor, underlining that while Lord Ram embodies humility, virtue and compassion, he also assumes the role of a destroyer of evil when circumstances demand.

Addressing a gathering at the Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya, after hoisting the religious flag at the Annapurna Temple, Singh was participating in prayers marking the second anniversary of the consecration of Ram Lalla’s idol.

Ram Temple Movement Laid Foundation for the Future

The Defence Minister described the Ram Temple movement as a great chapter in India’s history, which laid a strong foundation for the nation’s future. He said that despite repeated attempts by foreign invaders to erase Sanatan traditions, the saffron flag fluttering atop the Ram Temple stands as a symbol of civilizational continuity and resilience.

‘Lord Ram Is Compassionate, Yet a Destroyer of Evil’

Referring to Operation Sindoor, Singh said,
“Lord Ram is humble. Lord Ram is virtuous. Lord Ram is compassionate. But when required, he becomes the destroyer of evil. During Operation Sindoor, India acted with the same inspiration drawn from Lord Ram’s ideals.”

Operation Sindoor and India’s Military Response

India launched Operation Sindoor on the night of May 6, in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, in which tourists were targeted. Under the operation, Indian armed forces carried out precision strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating at least 100 terrorists.

Following Pakistan’s retaliatory actions, India inflicted significant damage on key Pakistani military installations, according to official sources.

‘Our Aim Was to End Adharma, Not Just Kill’

Drawing a parallel with the Ramayana, the Defence Minister said,
“Just as Lord Ram’s objective was not merely the killing of Ravana but the destruction of adharma (unrighteousness), our goal was also clear—to teach terrorists and their patrons a decisive lesson. And that is exactly what we did.”

Lord Ram as a Living Moral Force

Rajnath Singh emphasized that Lord Ram is not merely a character from an epic or a chapter in a religious text, but a living moral force who continues to guide society through moments of ethical dilemmas, restraint, and duty.

His remarks resonated strongly with devotees and attendees, blending faith, national security, and moral philosophy into a powerful message from the spiritual heart of Ayodhya.
