The Western Disturbance is predicted to impact the western Himalayan region from January 31 to February 2. Along with heavy snow in the mountains, plains of northwest India and adjoining central India could see intermittent showers during this period.

Earlier, the IMD had reported ‘cold day’ to ‘severe cold day’ conditions in parts of Himachal Pradesh and recorded hail in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, western Uttar Pradesh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, and Delhi over the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, parts of Rajasthan experienced light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, and minimum temperatures rose in northern India, including Jammu and Kashmir.

Residents are advised to stay prepared for icy winds and travel disruptions in the hilly regions as the weather system moves across the country.
