Illegal Firecracker Factory Busted in Hapur: 200 kg Gunpowder and 2,000 Candles Seized

Hapur: An illegal firecracker manufacturing unit was unearthed during a police search operation in Fatehpur village of Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur district. The police recovered around 200 kilograms of gun cotton powder, nearly 2,000 candles made from explosive material, and several tools used in the making of firecrackers. One accused, identified as Nadeem, a resident of Ghaziabad, has been taken into custody, while a search is on to trace his associates.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Varun Mishra said that the Babugarh police station team conducted a search operation at a house in Fatehpur village, where a large quantity of explosive material was found. “The seized material is commonly used in the manufacture of firecrackers. Nadeem is being interrogated, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend his accomplices. We are also trying to find out the source of this explosive material and what it was intended to be used for,” he said.

House Rented Just 20 Days Ago

Police officials revealed that the gun cotton powder is typically used to make candle-type firecrackers, often used in wedding celebrations. Nadeem, however, did not have any valid licence or permission to manufacture or store such explosive सामग्री.

Investigations have also found that Nadeem had rented the house just 20 days ago from one Rahul Khatik. The police plan to question the landlord as well to ascertain on what basis the premises were rented out and whether he had any knowledge of the illegal activities being carried out inside.

Probe Into Supply Chain Underway

The police are now focusing on tracing the supply chain of the explosive material and determining whether the illegal unit was part of a larger network involved in the manufacture and distribution of firecrackers. Further legal action will be taken once the investigation progresses.

The seizure has raised serious concerns about public safety, as the illegal storage and handling of such a large quantity of explosive material in a residential area could have led to a major हादसा.
