Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh: Shivpuri police have successfully busted an illegal arms factory in Papredu village, arresting two accused involved in manufacturing and planning the distribution of weapons in the region.
Police Action Based on Tip-Off
According to Additional SP Sanjeev Mule, the police received a tip-off on January 27 about illegal arms production being carried out in a small workshop (taperia) owned by Sukdev Rawat. Acting on the information, a police team conducted a raid. When confronted, Rawat attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police.
Arrest and Recovery
Inside the workshop, police found another individual, identified as Parshuram Jha from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, operating a grinder to cut iron rods—an essential step in the manufacture of firearms. Interrogation revealed that Jha had been specifically brought in by Rawat for his expertise in making weapons. Together, they were planning to supply arms across Karera and Shivpuri districts.
During the operation, police seized seven illegal firearms of 12-bore and 315-bore along with five live cartridges, estimated to be worth around ₹2 lakh.
Legal Action
Both accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the illegal operation and any possible accomplices.
Authorities Warn Against Arms Manufacturing
Additional SP Mule stressed that the police will continue strict vigilance against illegal arms manufacturing in the region and urged citizens to report any suspicious activity.
