ijapur Encounter: Six Naxalites Killed in Fierce Gun Battle; Gunfire Heard for Several Kilometers

Bijapur, Chhattisgarh: In a major anti-Maoist operation, security forces gunned down six Naxalites during a fierce encounter in the dense forests of Annaram, Taralaguda area of Bijapur district on Tuesday evening. The operation was part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate Maoist activities along the interstate border and forest zones of the region.

According to eyewitnesses, the sound of gunfire echoed for several kilometers, causing panic among villagers who locked themselves indoors. Security forces, including teams from the District Police, DRG (District Reserve Guard), and CRPF, were involved in the joint action.

Following the intense exchange of fire, personnel recovered the bodies of six slain Naxalites from the encounter site. In addition, one injured Maoist was captured alive and shifted to a hospital for treatment. Authorities have begun interrogating him and expect to gather vital intelligence about the movement and plans of Maoist cadres in the area.

Security Forces Intensify Search Operation

After the encounter, the entire area was cordoned off, and a massive search operation was launched to trace other Maoists who may have fled into the forests. Officials confirmed that the operation will continue until the entire zone is secured.

Speaking on the development, the Superintendent of Police, Bijapur, said that the encounter marks another major success in the ongoing drive to wipe out Maoist influence in the district. Over the past few months, several similar operations have led to the recovery of arms, ammunition, and Maoist documents from various locations.

Administration Urges Calm

Local administration has appealed to villagers to remain calm and report any suspicious movement in their area. The authorities assured that complete details of the operation, including recovered weapons and the identity of the arrested Maoist, will be released once the search concludes.

Officials reiterated that such operations will continue until the region is declared free of Maoist insurgency.
