IIT Patna Placement 2026: 19-Year-Old Lands ₹1.17 Crore Job; Google, Microsoft Shine at Campus Recruitment

Patna: IIT Patna has kicked off its 2026 placement season with a bang, setting new records in salary packages and global recognition. Among the highlights, two students received an annual package of ₹1.17 crore from Google, while 19 students secured lucrative offers from top tech firms. The institute also recorded a 17% increase in its average package, reflecting growing industry trust and academic excellence.

Google Leads the Placement Bonanza

This year, Google emerged as the most sought-after recruiter at IIT Patna, offering positions to 19 students. Two exceptionally talented 19-year-olds received a remarkable ₹1.17 crore annual salary. The institute’s global outreach is evident, with four students securing international roles in Japan.

Surge in Average Packages

According to Placement Officer Kripa Shankar Singh, the average package for BTech 2026 students crossed ₹26 lakh, marking a 17.66% rise over the previous year. MTech students also fared well, with average packages exceeding ₹16 lakh. Leading recruiters included Google, Microsoft, HCL, BPCL, and Samsung.

Consistent Record Over Four Years

IIT Patna has maintained a stellar placement record for four consecutive years. Registrar AK Thakur highlighted that in the 2025 academic session, 215 companies made 582 offers, with several departments achieving 100% placement. Over 400 offers have been secured annually, demonstrating the institute’s growing reputation among top recruiters.

Computer Science Leads the Way

As in previous years, the BTech Computer Science department dominated in terms of average packages. The placement process for the 2026 batch is 54.34% complete, with the first phase successfully concluded. The second phase, starting mid-January, is expected to attract core sector companies from manufacturing, energy, and other industries.
