
Jyoti Adhikari, the social media influencer from Haldwani, Uttarakhand, has once again attracted attention, this time due to a concerning post hinting at suicidal thoughts. The post, made on her verified Facebook page, has gone viral and sparked widespread discussion online.
The Post and Public Reaction
In her post dated 2 February at 3:07 PM, Jyoti wrote: “Friends, if I commit suicide, who will be responsible? Have I been troubled too much? I am very disturbed. I feel like everything around me is breaking.” The post has already received over 1,000 likes and 467 comments, with many users urging her to seek help and expressing concern about her mental health.
Previous Activism and Controversy
Jyoti Adhikari had earlier gained attention for her involvement in a protest related to the Ankita Bhandari murder case. On 7 January, she participated in a demonstration at Buddha Park in Haldwani, during which she was seen waving a sickle. A video of the protest went viral, and she faced allegations of making objectionable remarks about local women and deities, leading to her arrest and imprisonment.
She was released on bail on 14 January after the court granted her release, despite police opposition citing concerns that her actions disrupted public order. After her release, Jyoti issued a video apology, expressing regret for her actions and clarifying that she did not intend to cause offense. She stated that if her words had hurt anyone, she was ready to apologize to all of Kumaon and Uttarakhand.
Social Media Influence and Concerns
On 1 February, Jyoti had also posted a collage supporting justice for Ankita Bhandari, asking followers if the fight for justice would continue or end quietly. Her recent post, expressing distress and pressure, has raised concerns among followers about her mental well-being.
Authorities and the public are urging calm and support for Jyoti while monitoring the situation closely.
