IED Blast in Saranda Forest: Teen Girl Killed, Two Women Injured

Chaibasa, 28 Nov 2025: A tragic incident occurred in the Naxal-affected Saranda forest of Kolhan, West Singhbhum, when an IED planted by Naxals exploded, killing an 18-year-old girl and injuring two women. The blast took place in Kolbonga area under Jaraikela police station.

The victims, all residents of Kolbonga village, had gone to the forest to collect Siali leaves when they encountered the explosion around 2 PM. The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Phulo Dhanwar, while the injured are 28-year-old Salami Kundalna and 35-year-old Birsi Dhanwar.

According to reports, the blast was so powerful that Phulo Dhanwar was thrown nearly 10 feet into the air and died instantly upon falling. The injured women were taken to the village by locals and later admitted to Manoharpur Health Center, where they are undergoing intensive treatment.

Local authorities confirmed that the IED was planted to target security forces, but civilians inadvertently became victims. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

This tragic event highlights the continuing threat posed by Naxal activities in Saranda, affecting both security personnel and local villagers.
