IAS Tina Dabi Questions Bureaucratic Apathy in Barmer, BJP Leader Alleges Corruption

Barmer: IAS officer Tina Dabi, one of Rajasthan’s most talked-about district collectors, has once again made headlines—this time over administrative discipline in Barmer. During a “Urban Problem Resolution Camp” organized by the municipal council on Friday, serious questions were raised about the efficiency and accountability of senior officials.

The incident unfolded when Subir Kumar, the supervising secretary, arrived at the camp around 5 PM. He found the camp functioning without any responsible officers present. Expressing his frustration, he reportedly asked the Executive Engineer, Surya Prakash Sancheti, sharply: “Without the Commissioner here, which fever has kept the officers away? How can the camp serve its purpose if the officials tasked with resolving issues are absent?”

Corruption Allegations Surface

Adding fuel to the fire, BJP leader Rakesh Kuldeep accused the district administration of favoritism and corruption, claiming that only those who give recommendations or money receive attention, while ordinary citizens’ grievances are ignored. The allegations put the administration directly under the spotlight.

Within five minutes of the controversy erupting, Collector Tina Dabi arrived at the site and personally addressed the situation, rejecting the allegations. However, the incident had already raised serious concerns regarding administrative accountability in the district.

Coordination Gaps Affect Public Services

Speaking to the media, the supervising secretary acknowledged the city’s persistent issues with road conditions and water supply. He directed Collector Dabi to convene a coordination committee involving multiple departments—including PWD, RUIDP, and the municipal council—to ensure better planning and execution. Citizens have expressed frustration that work orders for previously reported problems have still not been issued, highlighting the urgent need for administrative reforms.
