IAS Tina Dabi Faces Tough Questions from MP, Officials Scolded in Barmer District Meeting

Barmer, Rajasthan: IAS officer Tina Dabi, known for her efficient administrative work, was at the center of a heated exchange during a district council meeting in Barmer. A video from the meeting shows Member of Parliament Ummedram Beniwal expressing frustration with officials while addressing pending administrative issues, and also questioning Dabi in a pointed manner.

MP Scolds Officials, Questions Tina Dabi
During the meeting, MP Beniwal sharply criticized officials for providing inadequate responses. When he asked Collector Tina Dabi about the status of the “Tanka” construction report, Dabi replied that the report would be sent soon. Beniwal, visibly irked, retorted, “Don’t you want to be honored again?” emphasizing that delays in lifting restrictions on Tanka construction could worsen the water crisis for the public. The remark referred to Dabi’s recent recognition at the national level, where she received the First Water Conservation Public Participation Award from the President of India for Barmer district.

Officials Fail to Provide Clear Answers
The MP’s ire was further fueled when mining and PWD officials failed to provide satisfactory explanations regarding illegal mining and associated road constructions. One mining officer denied any illegal activity in the area, despite complaints and evidence of roads leading to the mining site. Similarly, PWD officials claimed to have no knowledge of the constructed road. Beniwal reprimanded the officers in front of Collector Dabi and instructed Dabi to take action against them. Witnesses said the officials were left stunned by the MP’s stern comments, while Dabi nodded in agreement, acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

MP Highlights Public Accountability
MP Beniwal stressed that glorifying administrative achievements without addressing real issues could mislead the public. “If the Tanka construction restriction is not lifted on time, the public will face severe water shortages,” he said. He added that accurate reports and timely action are crucial for maintaining public trust and ensuring future recognitions.

The meeting underscores the MP’s commitment to accountability and Dabi’s continued focus on effective governance, even under scrutiny.
