“I Traveled to Brahmalok”: The 150 Million INR Book ‘I’ Becomes the Star Attraction at Patna Book Fair

Patna, Bihar: The historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna is abuzz with literary excitement as the 41st Patna Book Fair unfolds, offering readers a unique and unforgettable experience. Among the highlights is the world’s most expensive book, priced at an astonishing 15 crore INR, titled “I” by author Ratneshwar.

A Journey Beyond the Mortal Realm

Speaking to NBT Online, Ratneshwar described his spiritual journey:

“During my 15-month forest retreat, I received divine wisdom in the presence of my spiritual guide, Lord Krishna. From faith to realization, and realization to unity with the supreme consciousness, I witnessed the cycles of light and darkness. Through these accumulated memories, I traveled across countless lifetimes, refining my being.”

He revealed that he spent 21 days in a state of deep meditation, detached from the physical world, during which he traveled to Brahmalok and witnessed the Raslila firsthand. The book, crafted during the auspicious period of 6–7 September 2006, between 3:00 AM and 6:24 AM, narrates a journey of Karmanya Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Dhyana Yoga, culminating in the ultimate experience of the self.

The Author’s Inspiring Journey

Born in 1966 in Warsaliganj, Bihar, Ratneshwar faced immense hardships, losing his father at a young age and surviving on just 7 rupees during his childhood. Despite poverty and family disputes, he pursued education in Patna and showed early storytelling talent, earning the nickname “Kahani Master” in school. His first story, “Main Jaichand Nahin”, published at age 22, won him acclaim.

Over the years, Ratneshwar wrote multiple bestselling Hindi books, scripted for TV serials, and taught mass communication at prestigious institutes such as Patna University, Ranchi University, IIMC, Delhi University, and BHU. He later moved to Mumbai and wrote for the Star One series “Maano Ya Na Maano”, while continuing his literary pursuits.

The Book Fair and ‘I’

The book “I” is being exhibited under tight security and is available in both Hindi and English editions, though only one copy exists. Visitors are allowed to take selfies with the book. Organizers expect over 600,000 visitors during the fair.

Ratneshwar will host a dialogue session titled ‘Granth Uday’ on 7 December at 3 PM, where he will interact with visitors about the book. He describes “I” not merely as a book, but as a sacred scripture, emphasizing that it is not for sale.

This one-of-a-kind masterpiece has captured imaginations, blending spirituality, philosophy, and a life-long quest for self-realization into an unparalleled literary experience.
