I Don’t Want to Become Raja Raghuvanshi…” Soldier Who Saved the Nation in ‘Operation Sindoor’ Now Begs for Protection From His Own Wife

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A soldier who once confronted Pakistani forces during Operation Sindoor to protect the nation is today pleading for protection from his own wife and her family. Within just three days of marriage, the soldier’s wife deserted him, and ever since, he claims he and his elderly mother have been living under constant threat.

A War Hero Betrayed at Home

Devendra Rajawat, posted under the Western Command, said he never imagined that the real battle of his life would be fought inside his own home. The soldier says he trusted his wife because he was a civilian at heart—but now insists, “I am a soldier, not Indore’s Raja Raghuvanshi. I won’t let myself be framed.”

He alleges that his wife Vandana Chouhan, her brother (a police sub-inspector in Agra), and her brother-in-law want to grab his property and are capable of harming him and his mother.

Wife’s Shocking Demands on the First Night

The couple married just six months ago. Devendra claims that on the very first wedding night, Vandana refused physical relations and put forward four conditions:

  • No children for four years
  • Transfer his mother’s property to her name
  • And two other disturbing conditions he refuses to reveal publicly

According to Devendra, she openly said that she was forced into this marriage and did not wish to live with him.

Brought Her Back, But She Left Again Next Day

After she left home earlier this year, Devendra persuaded her to return in May 2025. But within 24 hours, she again went away with her brother-in-law, he claims.
He believes she left because he was assigned duty during Operation Sindoor.

Assault on the Soldier and His Mother

The soldier alleges that Vandana’s brother-in-law, Kamal Kishore Tomar, along with her relatives, assaulted him and his mother at their Gola Ka Mandir residence.
Vandana works at a blood bank in Morena, while her brother is posted in Agra Police—positions that Devendra feels are being misused to intimidate him.

Demand for ₹50 Lakh and Property Transfer

According to Devendra, Kamal Kishore Tomar—who he alleges is involved in the illegal liquor and sand trade—has been threatening him and demanding:

  • ₹50 lakh to be transferred in Vandana’s name
  • Complete property control

He says he even submitted an application during a public grievance hearing last month, but no action was taken.

Police to Call Both Sides for Counselling

Police have said both parties will be called for counselling before further legal action is taken. Meanwhile, the soldier fears that any day, in his absence, harm could come to his elderly mother.
