Husband Posts Obscene Video of Wife on Social Media to Force Dowry Demands; Woman Approaches Rewa SP

In a deeply disturbing incident from Rewa, a man allegedly recorded intimate moments with his wife and posted the video on social media to pressure her family into meeting his dowry demands. Shocked and humiliated, the woman, accompanied by her relatives, has approached the Superintendent of Police seeking strict action.

Video Shared on Social Media to Blackmail Wife’s Family

According to the complaint, the accused, identified as Shivam Sahu, a truck driver by profession, had been allegedly harassing his wife for dowry since their marriage. The woman’s family had repeatedly expressed their inability to fulfil his demands.

Taking advantage of the woman’s trust, Shivam reportedly recorded a private video of the couple and later circulated it on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram when his demands were not met. The act has sparked outrage, with the victim’s family calling it a deliberate attempt to defame and mentally torture her.

Victim Reaches SP Office with Evidence

After the video surfaced online, the woman and her family reached the Rewa SP office, presenting the viral clip as evidence.
Rewa CSP Rajeev Pathak confirmed receiving the complaint.

“The woman has submitted a complaint regarding the viral video. An investigation is underway, and action will be taken based on the findings,”
Pathak said.

Family Alleges Dowry Harassment, Assault

In her statement, the woman claimed that Shivam had been abusive, frequently assaulting her and demanding dowry. She alleged that he used the video as a weapon to shame her and coerce her family.

Accused Flaunts Crime in Chat Message

A WhatsApp chat attributed to Shivam has also surfaced, in which a person questions him about the video. Shivam allegedly responds:

“My mother-in-law said she would get her daughter remarried. Now let’s see who marries her after this.”

The message has further intensified the public anger surrounding the case.

Accused Absconding; Police Search On

Following the complaint, police teams have begun tracing the accused, who is currently absconding. The family fears social humiliation and has urged authorities to take swift and strict action.

The case raises serious concerns about online abuse, misuse of intimate content, and escalating dowry-related harassment in the region.
