Husband Attempts Second Marriage, Brave Wife Stops Ceremony with Police Intervention; Groom Flees Mandap

Gwalior: A daring wife foiled her husband’s attempt at a second marriage in Gwalior. When she, accompanied by police, arrived at Mayur Garden, the groom, Zeeshan Mirza, jumped off the wedding stage and fled. Disappointed, the bride’s family returned home, and the wedding was called off.

Marriage Troubles Emerge After One Month
The woman, a resident of Kampoo Eidgah, revealed that she had married Zeeshan Mirza of Islampur on 17 December 2023. Initially, the marriage was peaceful, but conflicts arose after a month. She alleged that Zeeshan began physically abusing her and demanded a dowry of ₹1 lakh. After being unable to meet these demands due to her financial situation, she faced increasing harassment. The woman, who lives with her elderly mother following her father’s demise, finally lodged a complaint at the women’s police station.

Counseling Fails, Legal Action Initiated
The police initially attempted to mediate between the couple, but when reconciliation failed, an official case of dowry harassment was registered against Zeeshan and his family. The woman also reported that Zeeshan sent her a “triple talaq” on paper, which is legally invalid.

Groom Flees Upon Wife’s Arrival
Neighbors informed the wife that her husband was attempting a second marriage at Mayur Garden. She immediately approached the Bahodapur police station, but her concerns were initially not taken seriously. She then escalated the matter to the Superintendent of Police, Dharmveer Singh, who instructed the station in-charge to take action. When the police accompanied the wife to the wedding venue, chaos ensued. Upon seeing his first wife and realizing police were present, Zeeshan jumped off the wedding stage and fled the scene.

Police Take Action, Wedding Called Off
Following the groom’s escape, the bride’s party returned home, and the wedding was officially stopped. The police confirmed that legal action is underway against the absconding groom, Zeeshan Mirza. The incident has sparked widespread discussion across the locality.
