HIV Alert in Pratapgarh Jail: 7 Out of 13 Transgender Inmates Test Positive, One Male Identified

Pratapgarh (UP): A health scare has emerged in Pratapgarh district jail after preliminary tests revealed that seven out of thirteen transgender inmates brought to the facility were HIV positive. All blood samples have been sent for confirmation, and the affected inmates are being kept separate from other prisoners as a precaution.

The incident traces back to Achalpur locality, where a violent clash erupted between two transgender groups led by Misba and Anjali. Following the altercation on Sunday, police intervened, and Sub-Inspector Prashant Dubey filed a case against both groups, sending 13 transgender individuals to jail.

One Male Among the Inmates
Upon arrival at the jail, authorities anticipated further conflict between the two groups and placed them in separate barracks. A medical examination was conducted to verify the gender of all the inmates, during which one was identified as male.

Health Measures and Monitoring
During the health screening, seven inmates tested preliminary positive for HIV. Following this, the jail administration went on high alert, implementing safety measures to prevent any potential spread. The final confirmation of all blood samples is awaited.

The Health Department is closely monitoring the situation. Jail Superintendent Rishabh Dwivedi confirmed that blood samples have been sent for further testing and stressed that anyone who came in contact with the affected inmates should get tested.

This unexpected revelation has raised concern within the jail and the local community, prompting authorities to take all necessary precautions.
