History-Sheeter Dies While Making Bomb on Rooftop in Bhubaneswar, Mother Also Succumbs to Burns

Bhubaneswar: A horrifying incident has been reported from Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar, where a history-sheeter criminal allegedly died after a crude bomb exploded while he was preparing it on the rooftop of his house. The blast left four people seriously injured, including his family members. The accused later succumbed to burn injuries, while his mother also died during treatment.

The incident occurred in the Airfield area of Bhubaneswar on January 27, when the accused, identified as Shehnawaz Malik (26), was reportedly making a country-made bomb on the terrace, allegedly with the intention of taking revenge against someone.

Blast Injures Four, Two Dead

Police said the explosion injured Malik, his mother Lilaatun Bibi, his fiancée Triptimayi Mahal (23), and his friend Amiya Mallik (27). Malik died earlier due to severe burns, while his mother succumbed to her injuries last week on Tuesday at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

The other two injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, and their condition remains critical.

CCTV Captures Terrifying Moment

The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV. The footage shows a woman laughing moments before a loud blast occurs, followed by panic and chaos. The video also shows clothes catching fire and people desperately trying to escape the flames. Malik is seen severely injured, attempting to ease the burning sensation by pouring water on himself.

Bomb Allegedly Being Made for Revenge

Preliminary investigation suggests that Malik was preparing the crude explosive device with the motive of revenge. However, the bomb accidentally exploded, causing serious injuries not only to him but also to those present nearby.

Investigation Underway

Police have launched an investigation into the case to determine the source of explosive materials and to identify whether any larger criminal network was involved. Authorities are also examining the CCTV footage as crucial evidence.

The incident has once again raised serious concerns over illegal explosive manufacturing and criminal activities in residential areas.
