“Hindus Do Not Seek Conflict, But Self-Defense is Their Right”: Devkinandan Thakur’s Strong Stand on Attacks on Sanatan Dharma

Mathura: Amidst the ongoing political discourse around Sanatan Dharma and Hinduism, renowned storyteller Devkinandan Thakur has made a significant statement. He emphasized that while Hindus are inherently non-violent, taking up arms becomes the last and necessary resort when it comes to protecting their existence, family, and faith.

Speaking to the media in Mathura, Thakur clarified that responding to political statements is not his primary concern. Instead, he seeks to highlight the truths of Sanatan Dharma. He said, “We follow the principle of ‘Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah’ (may all be happy). But due to our tolerance and patience, we lost our presence in regions like Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Now, Sanatanis are becoming vigilant about their safety.”

Example of Lord Krishna

Thakur also referred to India’s rich cultural heritage, saying that the country is not only the land of Buddha but also a land where wars were fought when necessary. Drawing examples from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, he explained that war has always been a last resort. Even Lord Krishna, he noted, sought peace by requesting just five villages. However, when injustice crossed all limits, a great war like Mahabharata became inevitable.

“Hindus Never Invade Others’ Land”

Strongly condemning attacks on Hindu values, Thakur stated, “Hindus have never invaded others’ lands. But if someone harms a Hindu’s cow, mother, or daughter, silence is impossible. Our deities incarnate to protect dharma. An attack on Hinduism is an attack on humanity itself because Sanatan Dharma teaches the art of living in the world.”

He added, “Our principle is ‘live and let live,’ but if someone does not allow us to live, then ‘Dharma protects those who protect it’ remains the only path. Society must awaken to safeguard temples, traditions, and the values of our faith.”
