Shimla: In a shocking incident from Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district, a government school teacher allegedly thrashed a Class 4 student so brutally that the child’s head was split open. The teacher reportedly slapped the student multiple times and then struck him with a steel scale. The boy began bleeding from his head and was later taken to the Solan Civil Hospital for treatment.
According to police sources, the disturbing incident occurred on Tuesday at a government school in Gaighat. During the assault, the frightened child stumbled and hit his head against a window, causing a deep wound. After realizing the gravity of the situation, the teacher allegedly washed the boy’s wound and informed his mother.
The child’s mother has lodged a formal complaint with the Bhojnagar Police Station in Parwanoo, alleging that her son had been assaulted earlier as well. She stated that even after raising the issue during a parent-teacher meeting, no action was taken against the teacher.
Investigation Ordered Against the Teacher
Taking serious note of the incident, Mohendra Chand Pirta, Deputy Director of Education, Solan, has ordered an immediate inquiry. He has directed the Block Primary Education Officer and the school principal to submit a detailed report by Thursday.
This case has reignited outrage over corporal punishment in Himachal’s government schools. Similar incidents were recently reported from Rohru in Shimla district and Chamba, raising questions about the enforcement of child safety guidelines in educational institutions.
