
Sundernagar, Mandi: A disturbing incident in Himachal Pradesh’s Sundernagar town has sparked communal tension after a 38-year-old man allegedly tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl. Locals intervened, beating the accused and blackening his face before handing him over to the police. The incident escalated when members of the minority community allegedly staged a protest at the police station, leading to further chaos.
The Incident
According to police, the married accused had reportedly been following the minor girl for several days. On Wednesday, he arrived near the girl’s home in an SUV and attempted to abduct her. The family tried to intervene, but the accused allegedly assaulted them. The commotion attracted locals, who restrained the man, physically punished him, and handed him to the police.
Protests at Police Station
Following the arrest, members of the minority community reportedly entered the police station and created a ruckus, demanding action in favor of the accused. During the protest, some individuals allegedly mistreated the girl’s father. Additional police forces were deployed to control the situation.
Police Action
Sundernagar Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bharat Bhushan, confirmed that three separate FIRs have been registered in connection with the case. The accused is expected to be presented in court soon. Police are investigating the incident and monitoring the situation to prevent further escalation.
