High-Drama in Chittorgarh: Lover Threatens Suicide on Mobile Tower to Force Marriage

Chittorgarh: In a dramatic turn of events in Chittorgarh, a young man named Govind climbed a mobile tower and threatened to commit suicide to pressure his girlfriend into marriage. The incident, which drew a large crowd, saw the involvement of senior officials including the local Collector and SP. Hours of negotiation finally ended when the intervention of Govind’s close friend persuaded him to come down safely.

Climbs Tower Demanding Marriage
Govind, determined to marry his girlfriend Basanti (name changed), scaled a high mobile tower in the Meteorological Department premises around 11:30 AM on Thursday. From atop the tower, he threatened to jump, sparking panic among onlookers and police alike.

Calls for Collector and SP
City Deputy Vinay Chaudhary, the local police station in-charge, and a team of officers rushed to the scene. Govind insisted that he would only come down if the Collector and SP were summoned and if Basanti’s family was present at the site to discuss the marriage. Despite hours of persuasion, he refused to descend.

Friend’s Intervention Saves the Day
When police efforts failed, Govind’s friend was called to the scene. Standing below the tower, the friend reminded him of their oath of friendship and promised full support. This emotional appeal worked. Govind agreed to come down and was safely rescued using ladders, nets, and an ambulance team. The police have taken him into custody and are investigating the incident.

Police Urge Patience and Dialogue
Authorities emphasized that such extreme actions are dangerous and urged couples and families to resolve conflicts through dialogue rather than risking lives.
