High Alert in Mumbai After Major Blast Near Delhi’s Red Fort

Nine Dead, Over Two Dozen Injured; Security Tightened Across Maharashtra

New Delhi / Mumbai: A massive explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort has triggered a high alert across Mumbai and the state of Maharashtra. The blast occurred outside Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, in the parking area, leaving a trail of destruction and panic.

According to initial reports, at least 10 people have been killed and over 24 others injured in the explosion. Several vehicles parked near the site were completely destroyed, and eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos, shattered glass, and debris scattered across the area.

Blast Linked to Terror Network?

The exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation. However, earlier in the day, Faridabad Police arrested several suspected terrorists and seized over 360 kilograms of suspected ammonium nitrate.
Authorities are now probing a possible connection between those arrests and the Delhi blast. The explosion reportedly occurred inside an Eco Van, which was parked near the metro station.

Investigators have not yet confirmed whether this was a terrorist attack or an accidental detonation.

Maharashtra on High Alert

Following the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis held an emergency meeting at his official residence, Varsha, to review the overall security situation in the state.
Sources in the Home Department said the Chief Minister instructed all senior police officers and intelligence agencies to remain on maximum alert and increase patrolling in sensitive areas across Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur.

Scene of Destruction at Red Fort Metro Station

Eyewitnesses described the explosion as “terrifying.” Multiple cars were blown apart, and only mangled metal frames remained. In some spots, human remains were visible on the ground.
Fire tenders, ambulances, bomb disposal squads, and forensic teams rushed to the site within minutes. A dog squad was also deployed to assist in evidence collection.

24 Injured, Panic in the Area

According to Delhi Police officials, 24 people sustained injuries in the blast and were immediately taken to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital for treatment.
The intensity of the explosion was such that window panes of nearby shops and vehicles shattered instantly. Local residents and commuters were seen fleeing the area in panic as security personnel cordoned off the entire zone.

Investigation Underway

Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi Police Special Cell, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) are jointly examining the site. Samples from the debris have been collected to determine the nature of the explosives used.

Officials have appealed to the public to avoid spreading unverified information or images on social media until an official statement is released.
