High Alert in Ayodhya on Republic Day as Lakhs of Devotees Throng Ram Temple

Ayodhya: Security has been significantly tightened across Ayodhya district on the occasion of Republic Day, with authorities placing the holy city on high alert amid an unprecedented influx of devotees visiting the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. Intensive checking is being carried out at all major entry points, and security agencies are maintaining close surveillance to prevent any untoward incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Gaurav Grover said that vehicles arriving from outside the district are undergoing thorough inspections, while luggage carried by pilgrims and travellers is being meticulously checked. As part of heightened vigilance, police are also verifying the credentials of street vendors, roadside shopkeepers and cart owners, including Aadhaar-based identity checks.

Heavy Police Deployment Across Entry Points

The security operation is being led by SP City Chakrapani Tripathi and CO City Shriyas Tripathi. A large contingent of police personnel has been deployed at all strategic locations and entry routes. Metal detectors are being used to screen suspicious individuals and objects, with the primary objective of ensuring a peaceful and incident-free Republic Day.

Massive Influx of Pilgrims

Ayodhya continues to witness a surge in pilgrims, particularly those arriving from the Prayagraj Magh Mela. On Sunday alone, over three lakh devotees offered prayers at the Ram Temple and Hanuman Garhi. All time slots for darshan passes were reported to be fully booked.

Ram Temple Trust trustee Dr Anil Mishra said that, in view of the heavy crowd, darshan arrangements have been streamlined into seven parallel queues, enabling devotees to have darshan within approximately one hour.

Strict Vigil at Temple Premises

Security at temple entry gates has been further strengthened, with constant monitoring of suspicious individuals. On the auspicious occasion of Rath Saptami, special rituals including worship, ceremonial bathing (abhishek) and aarti of Lord Surya were performed. The child form of Lord Ram Lalla and the Ram Parivar were adorned with a grand and divine decoration, adding to the spiritual fervour.

Authorities have appealed to devotees to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to guidelines to ensure smooth and safe darshan during the festive period.
