New Delhi: In the wake of the car blast near the Red Fort and a bomb threat at IGI Airport, airport authorities and the CISF have stepped up security measures across key transit points in the capital. Passengers have been advised to arrive well in advance to ensure smooth security screening.
Increased Security Measures
Joint operations by Airport Police and CISF teams include extensive vehicle checks, barricading of access points, and patrolling along airport approaches. Dog squads are being deployed for specialized checks, while inverted mirror cameras are being used to inspect suspicious vehicles.
Advisory for Passengers
Authorities have issued advisories for travelers to reach their destinations earlier than usual:
- Air passengers: Arrive at least 3 hours prior to departure.
- Metro travelers: Arrive at least 20 minutes earlier.
- Rail passengers: Arrive at least 1 hour earlier than scheduled departure.
The move is aimed at avoiding inconvenience while ensuring thorough security screening.
Intensified Patrols and Checks
DCP Vichitra Veer of IGI Airport stated that patrolling and vehicle checks have been intensified. Delhi Police units and CISF teams are working in close coordination to maintain maximum vigilance.
High Traffic at IGI Airport
IGI Airport handles over 1,500 flights daily, serving millions of passengers traveling to domestic and international destinations. As one of the world’s top 10 airports, authorities are leaving no room for lapses in security.
The increased measures reflect a proactive approach to counter threats and ensure passenger safety in the aftermath of recent terror-related incidents in Delhi.
