Heavy Rain and Hailstorm Hit Multiple Districts in Madhya Pradesh, Wheat Crops Severely Damaged

Bhopal: Unseasonal weather in Madhya Pradesh has caused widespread concern among farmers as heavy rains and hailstorms battered several districts on Tuesday night. The extreme weather has particularly affected wheat crops, with damage also reported to other standing crops.

Bardwani, Khargone, and Shajapur Hit Hard
In Bardwani district, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds struck the district headquarters, while the Sendhwa subdivision also experienced downpours in the evening. Khargone district recorded rain in Khargone town, Kasrawad, Badwah, and Sanawad areas, with brief hail in Dogaon village causing worry among farmers.

Shajapur district saw intermittent rainfall throughout the day. A sudden hailstorm in Shajapur city brought a sharp drop in temperatures. While some residents enjoyed the unusual weather, farmers were left anxious as nearly-ripe wheat crops stood vulnerable to damage.

Ashoknagar Faces Sudden Weather Change
Ashoknagar district also experienced late-night rainfall and hail, particularly affecting fields in the Mungawali tehsil. Hailstones, roughly the size of berries and chickpeas, left a white layer on the farmland within five minutes, causing significant concern among local cultivators. Administration teams have been dispatched to assess the extent of the damage.

Rainfall Across the State
The heaviest impact was reported in the Gwalior-Chambal division, where Gwalior received nearly 2.5 inches of rain in a single day. Other districts including Guna, Shivpuri, Sagar, Ujjain, Shajapur, Agar-Malwa, Dewas, Morena, Sehore, and Raisen also recorded rainfall and hail. Even the state capital, Bhopal, experienced rainfall on Tuesday night.

Meteorologists have advised farmers to monitor crop conditions closely and take precautionary measures where possible, as such unseasonal weather could affect the overall harvest this season.
