Heavy Clashes in Indore as BJP-YUVA and Congress Workers Clash Over AI Summit Protest

Indore: A violent clash broke out on Saturday outside the Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress office in Indore, between Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and Congress workers. The confrontation occurred when BJYM activists arrived to protest against Congress’s semi-nude demonstration during the AI Impact Summit in Delhi. What began as slogans quickly escalated into stone-pelting, leaving police personnel and two journalists injured.

Situation Escalates Outside Congress Office
Tensions flared when BJYM members reached Gandhi Bhavan as part of a planned demonstration. Both groups soon came face-to-face. What started with slogan-chanting turned into scuffles and stone-throwing. Police intervened, using water cannons to disperse the crowd.

Protest Linked to AI Impact Summit
According to reports, the BJYM had announced a protest at the Indore Congress office in response to Congress workers’ semi-nude demonstration at the AI Impact Summit in Delhi. A large police presence had already been deployed at Gandhi Bhavan, with barricades erected to prevent confrontation. Despite these precautions, heated exchanges quickly led to a violent clash.

Objects Thrown Include Stones, Bottles, and Fruits
Eyewitnesses reported that both sides hurled stones, water bottles, oranges, and tomatoes at each other. The sudden stone-pelting created chaos at the site, prompting police to deploy water cannons.

Injuries Reported
Several people were injured during the clashes. Sub-Inspector R.S. Baghel was hit in the chest by a stone and rushed to hospital. BJP worker Bindu Chauhan was also injured. Two journalists covering the event, Lala Shahabuddin and Shakeel Sikandar, sustained injuries and were taken to hospital with assistance from colleagues.

Police Response and Investigation
Additional police forces have been deployed in the area to maintain order. Authorities are reviewing video footage of the incident to identify those involved. While the situation is currently under control, tensions remain high in the area.
