Bokaro: Panic erupted near Basanti Mod in Bokaro’s Sector 9 when a young man climbed the top of a private mobile tower and threatened to jump, claiming he would end his life. The dramatic incident ended after police successfully persuaded him to come down safely.
The man, identified as Bhojraj Chandel from Johri village in Guna district, Madhya Pradesh, reportedly scaled the 150-foot tower after being denied permission to meet his girlfriend by her family. The crowd that gathered below was left in shock as they watched him cling to the tower’s summit.
Four-Year Relationship Leads to Desperation
According to Sector 9 police station, Chandel has been in a relationship with a local girl for the past four years. The couple initially connected through social media, and Chandel had come to meet her when her family refused to allow the meeting.
Station Officer Khursheed Alam said that it took nearly two hours of careful persuasion before Chandel was safely brought down. “He was extremely distressed and threatened to take his life,” Alam stated.
Police Engage in Counseling and Dialogue
A video of the incident circulated on social media, showing Chandel repeatedly saying, “I will end my life.” Police teams from Sector 9 remained at the site for hours, negotiating with him. After his safe descent, Chandel was taken into police custody. Authorities are now questioning him and attempting to resolve the situation through counseling and discussions with the girl’s family.
The police emphasized that the priority remains the young man’s safety while seeking a peaceful resolution to the dispute.
