Headline:Farmers’ Tractor Rally Halted by Police in Gudamalani, Tensions Rise in Balotra

Barmer (Rajasthan):
A tense situation prevailed in the Gudamalani area of Balotra district on Tuesday when farmers, marching in a tractor rally towards the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office, were stopped by the police midway. The किसानों’ protest, centred on long-pending demands related to crop insurance claims, सरकारी अनुदान, and land disputes, once again brought the region into the spotlight after a similar agitation in December.

To prevent the farmers from moving आगे, the police erected barricades at several points, leading to a near face-off between the protesters and the administration. Additional police forces were deployed, effectively turning Gudamalani into a police camp. Meanwhile, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal also issued a call for farmers to reach the protest site, further heightening the राजनीतिक और प्रशासनिक दबाव.

Farmer Leaders Arrive, प्रशासन पर आरोप
Upon receiving information that farmers had been रोक दिया गया, former sarpanch and किसान नेता Bijlaram rushed to the spot. Speaking to the SDM over the phone, he expressed strong resentment over the police कार्रवाई. Bijlaram said that farmers’ demands had been pending for a long time, yet they were being prevented from putting forth their grievances in a peaceful manner. He also accused the administration of failing to maintain law and order and of ignoring किसानों की समस्याएं.

Long-Pending Demands Fuel Anger
The protesting farmers said they have been demanding the payment of crop insurance claims, benefits under various government subsidy schemes, proper arrangements at protest sites, and the removal of encroachments from the land of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). According to them, despite earlier आंदोलनों and repeated assurances, no concrete समाधान has been provided so far.

December Protest Still Unresolved
This is not the first time farmers in the region have taken to the streets. On December 9, farmers had reached the Barmer Collectorate in tractors and other vehicles in an attempt to lay siege to the district headquarters. Following negotiations with the administration, they had returned after being assured that their demands would be fulfilled within a month. Later, in the Dhori Manna area too, farmers were stopped and given similar assurances.

However, farmers allege that even after one and a half months, not even ten percent of their demands have been addressed. This perceived प्रशासनिक उदासीनता has further inflamed anger, prompting farmers to once again come out on the roads on Tuesday. At several locations, including Neebri Phanta, tractor convoys were stopped, making the situation even more tense.

Talks Underway
Officials said efforts are ongoing to initiate dialogue with farmer representatives to defuse the situation and restore normalcy. However, as of now, Gudamalani continues to remain on high alert, with security forces stationed across key نقاط to prevent any escalation.

The situation remains fluid, and further developments are awaited as negotiations between the administration and farmer leaders continue.
