Hazaribagh, Jharkhand – In a shocking incident that has raised serious questions about prison security, three life-term convicts have escaped from the Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan (JP) Central Jail, considered one of the most modern and secure correctional facilities in the state. All three escapees are residents of Dhanbad district. The jailbreak has exposed vulnerabilities in a facility often touted as “so secure that not even a bird can fly in or out.”
Escape Detected During Routine Counting
Sources revealed that the incident occurred on Tuesday night during the routine counting of prisoners. While convicts were being brought out of their barracks, the three prisoners suddenly went missing. Initially, jail authorities assumed they were still within the premises and launched a search operation. However, when no trace was found after an extensive search, alarm bells rang across the jail administration.
Police Launch Search and Raids
Police teams have started raids at potential hideouts of the fugitives. JP Central Jail is known for its five-layered security, extensive CCTV surveillance, and armed personnel stationed at every gate, making it a fortress-like facility. Despite these measures, the escape has prompted an immediate investigation into how the convicts managed to flee.
Stringent Checks Across Dhanbad
The jail superintendent assured that all efforts are being made to recapture the escapees swiftly. In Dhanbad, police are conducting raids at multiple suspected locations while setting up barricades and conducting thorough checks at major intersections. This is not the first time prisoners have escaped from Hazaribagh Jail, as similar incidents have occurred in the past few years.
The authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activity as the manhunt intensifies.
