Hathras (Uttar Pradesh), Jan 31: In an unusual case from Hathras, a newlywed woman has refused to live with her husband just a month after their wedding, citing personal differences and disputes over physical relations. Despite intervention from family members and the police, the couple could not reach a compromise.
According to reports, Abhishek Sharma, a resident of Kailash Nagar, Hathras, married Megha, a resident of Agra, with mutual consent. Both families had approved the alliance, and initially, the couple seemed to get along. However, disagreements began just days after the wedding, leading to growing tensions.
Late Friday evening, Megha approached Bangla Police Chowki to formally complain. Police called Abhishek to the station and attempted to mediate between the two. Family members from both sides were also present to help resolve the dispute. Nevertheless, Megha remained firm in her decision to not live with her husband.
Wife’s Statement:
Megha told the police that due to certain personal and family issues, she no longer wishes to stay with her husband. She added, “It has been only a month since our marriage. My husband works in a private company. We have disputes regarding physical relations, which I cannot elaborate on. For this reason, I do not want to live with him.”
Husband’s Perspective:
Abhishek, who works at a bakery, expressed his distress, saying, “It has only been a month since our marriage. She does not like me and is leaving me despite our wedding being mutually agreed upon. About ₹3 lakh was spent on the wedding. I am deeply hurt by her decision.”
Police Statement:
Police confirmed that the couple visited the station amid disputes. “Despite extensive mediation attempts and the presence of family members, the woman refused to live with her husband. The matter remains under consideration for a possible settlement, and further action will be taken if required,” they said.
