
Hathras, UP: In a shocking incident in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, a Delhi Police constable and a bank employee were reportedly assaulted by villagers while attempting to apprehend a fugitive.
According to sources, Islam, a local man, had been declared a fugitive by Saket Court, Delhi, after allegedly defaulting on a loan of approximately ₹2 lakh from a bank in Delhi and absconding. In an effort to recover the dues, a team comprising Capital Bank employee Karan Singh and Delhi Police constable Devendra Kumar Singh visited Chandragarhi village under Chandaura police station in Hathras.
Violent Confrontation
During the operation, the fugitive Islam physically attacked the bank employee and police constable, prompting some of his accomplices to take the team hostage. The group allegedly beat the officials severely, creating a tense situation in the village.
Upon receiving information about the incident, local police rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the Delhi Police constable and the bank employee from the assailants’ grip. Both victims were found with serious injuries and were immediately sent for medical examination at the district hospital.
Case Registered
A formal complaint has been lodged at Chandaura police station by Karan Singh. The complaint names Shahid, Saddam, Pankaj Sharma, Monu Chaudhary, Asif, and As Muhammad as accused of assault and aiding the fugitive in evading arrest. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
This attack highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement and banking personnel during field operations in rural areas, raising concerns about security and the need for coordinated action during such recovery efforts.
