Haryana Wrestler Pooja Dhanda Ties the Knot With Businessman Abhishek Boora; Wedding Photos Go Viral


Hisar: International wrestler Pooja Dhanda, one of Haryana’s most celebrated athletes, has entered a new chapter in her life. She tied the knot with businessman Abhishek Boora in a grand ceremony held at Taj Palace, Tosham Road, Hisar. The wedding festivities saw the presence of prominent personalities from the sports fraternity.

A Family Deeply Rooted in Sports

Groom Abhishek Boora comes from a highly respected sports lineage.

  • His late father, Sube Singh Boora, was a renowned wrestling coach.
  • His grandfather, Shankar Jung Bahadur, also contributed significantly to the world of sports.
  • His aunt, Jeevani Devi, has won medals in multiple disciplines.

Wedding Ceremony Attended by Top Wrestling Officials

The couple got engaged on August 7 earlier this year. The wedding ceremony witnessed the presence of former Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who attended to bless the newlyweds. In a heartwarming moment, Pooja’s father Ajmer Dhanda was seen dancing in front of Brij Bhushan during the celebration.

Traditional Customs and Celebrations

Prior to the wedding, Pooja’s mehendi and ladies sangeet ceremonies were held on Wednesday. The wrestler danced during the festivities and had “Abhishek ki Dulhaniya” written in mehendi on her hands.
The marriage was arranged, with Pooja’s father finalizing the match.

Engagement and Pre-Wedding Shoot

The couple had their “roka” ceremony on February 23. Pooja, who currently lives in Hisar’s Sunder Nagar, works as a Senior Wrestling Trainer in the city. After the engagement, she also completed an elaborate pre-wedding photoshoot at various destinations in Rajasthan, later sharing the photos and videos on her Instagram handle.

Pooja hails from a humble yet supportive family.
