Chandigarh / UK, 1 Dec 2025: A 30-year-old Indian student from Haryana was brutally stabbed during a street attack in the United Kingdom and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Vijay Kumar Shyoran, a native of Charkhi Dadri district, had moved to the UK to pursue higher studies after resigning from his job with the Central Board of Excise and Customs earlier this year.
The incident occurred on 25 November in Worcester, approximately 215 km from London. The West Mercia Police have appealed to witnesses to come forward with any information regarding the attack.
Family Suspicion and Arrests
Vijay’s family has expressed suspicion that individuals of Haryana and Punjab origin residing in the UK may be involved. They have requested the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian High Commission in the UK to provide urgent assistance in repatriating the body and completing the necessary documentation and coordination.
Five individuals were reportedly arrested in connection with the murder but have since been released on bail while the investigation continues. A sixth person previously detained in connection with the case was released without any action.
Circumstances of the Murder
According to preliminary police reports, the attack followed a verbal altercation, after which Vijay was stabbed multiple times. The motive behind the attack has not been fully established. Vijay was pursuing his studies at the University of the West of England in Bristol at the time of the incident.
Appeal for Justice
Charkhi Dadri MLA Sunil Satpal Sangwan shared the news on social media, urging immediate intervention from the central and state governments. He called for the swift repatriation of Vijay’s body and strict punishment for the perpetrators.
Vijay’s younger brother, Ravi Kumar, has written to the Ministry of External Affairs, stating that his brother was murdered while studying in the UK and highlighting the suspicion regarding the involvement of some individuals from Haryana and Punjab. The family is still awaiting updates from the UK police regarding the investigation.
