Bathinda, February 14, 2026: In a chilling crime that has sent shockwaves through Haryana, the Bathinda Police have arrested a man accused of murdering his live-in partner, only identified as Sapna alias Malika, from Bagha Purana in Moga district.
The accused, Prince Kumar, 35, reportedly killed the woman on February 10 and shockingly spent the next two days with her body. Disturbingly, he carved his name on her face and chest before taking selfies with the corpse. In an attempt to destroy evidence, he partially burned the body and later disposed of it in a suitcase. The suitcase was found on February 11 near Behman Diwana village along the Bathinda-Malout highway.
Bathinda SSP Jyoti Yadav said, “The accused was a close friend of the deceased and had known her for several months. The woman had been living with another person, but she shared a relationship with the accused. After identifying the body within 48 hours, the police swiftly arrested the suspect.”
Investigations revealed that Sapna had left her family to live in a live-in relationship and had changed her name to Malika. CCTV footage and mobile phone analysis were crucial in tracking her final movements and identifying the suspect. The police recovered the vehicle used in the crime—a silver Hyundai i20—and the knife employed in the murder.
Prince Kumar has no previous criminal record but is reported to have a history of drug addiction. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the gruesome case.
The horrifying nature of this crime, including the act of spending two days with the victim’s body and taking selfies, has left the local community and police alike horrified.
