Hisar, Haryana: In a rare public display of law enforcement, Haryana Police paraded notorious gangster Daljit Sihag through local markets in Hisar, handcuffed, to send a clear message to criminals and society. The gangster, wanted in nearly 61 cases including extortion, robbery, attempted murder, and assault, was taken on a one-day police remand from Jhajjar before the parade.
Public Display and Police Reinforcement
During the parade, Sihag’s hands were shackled while heavy police deployment ensured the operation remained secure. Locals watching the procession praised the police action as a decisive step against criminal intimidation.
Special Campaign under DGP OP Singh
This action is part of a special campaign ordered by Haryana DGP OP Singh targeting habitual offenders. Hisar police executed the operation meticulously, walking the gangster across key market areas to reinforce the seriousness of law enforcement.
Police stated, “Such strict actions not only send a strong message to criminals but also raise awareness in society.”
Criminal Record and Social Media Influence
Daljit Sihag, a resident of Sisai village, has a long criminal record. During the Jat reservation movement, he and his associates were involved in the murder of Mintu Gurjar in Hisar in 2016, for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment in January 2019. Sihag is currently serving time in Jhajjar Jail.
Authorities also highlighted Sihag’s social media presence, where he reportedly tried to project a “victim” persona. He has over 125,000 followers, and his activities influenced many youth in and outside the region, raising concerns about the spread of criminal glamorization online. Hisar SP Amit Yashvardhan said, “He has been involved in nearly all types of criminal activities. Our challenge is to ensure young people do not get misguided by such individuals.”
