Chandigarh – 18 November 2025: The statement by PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on the recent Red Fort blast in Delhi has triggered a major political controversy, sparking sharp exchanges between parties. Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij reacted strongly, accusing Mufti of supporting militancy.
Mehbooba’s Statement Sparks Outrage
Mufti had criticized the central government over the suicide car bomb attack near Delhi’s Red Fort, alleging that the authorities misrepresented the situation in Jammu & Kashmir as normal while ignoring growing extremism and security lapses across the country. She said: “You claimed Kashmir is peaceful, but the troubles of Kashmir echoed outside the Red Fort. The government promised to make Jammu & Kashmir safe, but instead, your policies have made Delhi vulnerable.”
Anil Vij’s Sharp Retort
Responding to her remarks, Vij said that calling the blast “the voice of Kashmir” was equivalent to promoting militancy. He accused Mufti of historically supporting separatists and extremists, adding that such statements embolden terrorists. He further questioned: “If one attack is called the ‘voice of Kashmir,’ does it mean bombings will spread across the nation?” Vij termed her comments anti-national, asserting that they undermine the country’s unity and communal harmony.
Vij reiterated that while the government and security agencies remain fully committed to countering terrorism, statements like these are deeply worrying and threaten national stability.
