Haryana Loot: Armed Robbers Strike Wedding Home, Bind Family, Shoot Groom, Steal Rs 80 Lakh

Karnal, Haryana: In a brazen daylight robbery, five armed men targeted a contractor’s home in Subhash Colony, Karnal, on Monday morning, stealing valuables worth approximately Rs 80 lakh. The incident occurred just 100–150 meters from the SP Camp Office. The robbers held the family hostage for nearly 45 minutes, forcing women to hand over their jewelry. They also stole cash and wedding-related jewelry, and shot the groom during the attack. The family’s wedding was scheduled just 10 days later.

Details of the Incident
According to reports, the robbers entered the house under the pretext of asking for directions and immediately resorted to violence. They also took away the house’s CCTV DVR and a car purchased a year ago. Before fleeing, the suspects fired five rounds at the property.

The commotion drew nearby residents, who quickly alerted the police. The Karnal SP, along with the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), Civil Lines police, and forensic team, reached the scene promptly. The injured groom was admitted to a private hospital in the city and is receiving treatment.

Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests
Police managed to arrest all five robbers within three hours of the crime. The suspects had abandoned their vehicle near Basant Bihar, which police later recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the robbers were in contact with an accomplice via phone during the heist, checking whether the reported cash and jewelry were fully available. Investigators are also examining the possibility of inside information, as workers involved in the groom’s new house construction may have aided the culprits.

Upcoming Wedding Amid Chaos
Friends of the groom, Aditya, confirmed that the family was preparing for the wedding on 4 December. On the morning of the robbery, Aditya’s mother Meenakshi and aunt Sangeeta were working in the kitchen, while the father was in the bathroom, and Aditya was seated on the sofa. Aditya’s brother had stepped out for a walk. The robbers, arriving on a bike, asked for directions to gain entry. When Sangeeta questioned their identity, one of the robbers struck her with the butt of a gun, initiating the violent attack.

This daring robbery has sent shockwaves through the local community, highlighting both the boldness of the criminals and the quick response by law enforcement.
