Haryana Congress MLA Threatened by Phone; Kanpur Man Identified as Accused

Jhajjar, Haryana: A disturbing case of intimidation has emerged in Haryana, where Congress MLA Kuldeep Vats from the Badli constituency reportedly received a death threat over the phone. The accused, identified as Santlal Yadav from Kanpur, not only threatened the MLA’s life but also used abusive and offensive language during the call.

Background of the Threat
Sources indicate that the threat was linked to MLA Vats’ past association with programs organized by Sant Rampal, currently in jail. MLA Vats had attended the Kisan Masiha Samman event and other initiatives where farmers were provided with pump sets. Santlal Yadav, reportedly angered by these events, allegedly made the threatening call.

MLA Reports to DGP
MLA Vats has informed the Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana, about the incident. He emphasized that such threats will not intimidate him and confirmed that an FIR will be registered against the accused. The MLA is also expected to address the media in a press conference today.

Accused Has a History of Threats
Authorities said that Santlal Yadav has previously threatened several leaders in Haryana in a similar manner. Police are investigating his criminal record and prior threats to others. Technical evidence, including call records, is being collected, and enhanced security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of the MLA.

This incident highlights the ongoing concerns regarding political intimidation in the state, with authorities taking swift steps to investigate and ensure the safety of elected representatives.
