Hardoi: Farmer Dies After Cobra Bite, Mishandled by Quack Doctor

Hardoi, January 9, 2026: In a tragic incident in Babarpur village, Hardoi, a 65-year-old farmer, Ramnath, lost his life after being bitten by a cobra while guarding his crops at night. His family alleges that the delay in proper medical treatment and reliance on an unqualified local practitioner led to his death.

According to reports, Ramnath went to his field on Wednesday evening to protect his crops. Around midnight, he fell asleep in a small hut at the edge of the field when a cobra bit him. Hearing his cries, nearby farmers rushed to his aid and took him home.

Instead of seeking treatment at a government health center, his family brought him to a quack doctor in a nearby village. The doctor attempted treatment, but Ramnath succumbed to the snakebite shortly thereafter.

Ramnath, described by his family as a religious and devoted man, is survived by a son, Govind, and two daughters. After his death, Govind arranged for his father’s burial in a grave he personally constructed. The family is mourning deeply, with Govind expressing regret that had he taken his father to a proper hospital, his life might have been saved.

This incident highlights the risks of relying on unqualified practitioners in emergency medical situations, especially in rural areas.
