Hanuman Beniwal Challenges Rajasthan Government Over Khejri Tree Protection, Warns of March to Bikaner

Bikaner (Rajasthan): The ongoing protest in Bikaner demanding protection of the sacred Khejri trees is gaining momentum, and now it has entered the political spotlight. Nagaur MP and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) chief Hanuman Beniwal has issued a strong warning to the Bhajanlal-led Rajasthan government, accusing it of stubbornness and inaction.

Expressing his anger on social media platform X, Beniwal made it clear that if the government fails to take immediate steps, he will personally reach the protest site in Bikaner.

Concern Over Deteriorating Health of Saints and Protesters

Beniwal said he has received reports that the health of several saints and protestors, including Shri Parasaram Bishnoi, has worsened due to harsh winter conditions during the agitation.

He stated that he spoke to the protesters over the phone and expressed deep concern for their well-being.

“Those who are raising their voice to protect nature and life-giving trees like Khejri deserve support and safety. Their health and security is our responsibility,” Beniwal said.

He also mentioned that due to disruptions in Parliament, he could not raise the issue earlier but assured that once proceedings run smoothly, he would make the matter resonate strongly in Delhi.

Demand for ‘Tree Protection Act’ in Assembly

In a direct appeal to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Beniwal demanded that the government introduce a ‘Tree Protection Act’ during the ongoing Assembly session itself.

He criticised the administration, claiming that due to its rigid attitude, thousands of people are being forced to continue sitting at the protest camp in freezing cold conditions.

‘Khejri is the Lifeline of the Desert’

Highlighting the ecological importance of the Khejri tree, Beniwal made an emotional statement, calling it far more than just a plant.

He said the Khejri is the backbone of the desert ecosystem, a source of shelter for animals and birds, and a key pillar of livelihood for farmers and rural communities.

Beniwal’s aggressive stance indicates that the Bikaner protest could soon become a major political flashpoint in Rajasthan, potentially drawing wider public and political attention in the coming days.
