
Hamirpur, UP: The chilling case of Kiran Singh’s murder has sent shockwaves through Hamirpur after police revealed that a local police inspector, Ankit Kumar Yadav, confessed to killing her. Kiran’s body was found naked on November 13 near a roadside, partially torn by stray dogs and crows. The investigation uncovered a grim story behind the gruesome death.
Inspector’s Confession
Inspector Ankit Kumar Yadav, currently posted at the CO Mahoba office, admitted during interrogation that he had a personal relationship with Kiran Singh. He claimed that Kiran repeatedly threatened him with false rape allegations, bombarded him with hundreds of calls daily, and verbally abused both him and his mother. Yadav stated that he did not intend to kill her initially but was provoked after a heated confrontation. On November 12, he attacked her with an iron rod during an argument on Baswari Road, resulting in her death, and then left her body on the roadside.
Background of the Victim
Kiran Singh, an 18-year-old woman from Kaberai Police Station area, had married a CRPF personnel on February 22, 2023. Their marriage quickly soured, and she had filed a dowry harassment case against her husband, along with other serious allegations. The investigation of Kiran’s cases was assigned to Ankit Kumar Yadav, during which their illicit relationship reportedly began.
Kiran had also filed two other rape complaints in 2020: one against a bank employee in Banda and another against her brother-in-law. According to Yadav, Kiran threatened him with legal action, which escalated tensions between them.
Evidence and Arrest
CCTV footage and other evidence linked Yadav to the crime. The vehicle used during the murder was reportedly borrowed from a local resident under the pretext of attending an invitation. Yadav was arrested following the evidence and his confession.
Police Action
The Mahoba SP, P.P. Singh, confirmed Yadav’s suspension and has ordered a departmental inquiry. Officials expressed shock over the involvement of a police officer in such a heinous crime, emphasizing strict departmental action will follow.
