Hamirpur: Maulana’s Son Injured in ‘Half Encounter’ After Leaked Obscene Video of Minor Hindu Girl

Hamirpur, UP: A major controversy erupted in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, over a “Love Jihad” case after an obscene video of a minor Hindu girl went viral on social media, prompting Hindu organizations and local traders to shut down markets and stage protests.

Police Arrest Accused

According to reports, the girl, a minor daughter of a cloth merchant from Sumerpur town, was allegedly lured by Mohammad Aban Khan, son of a local Maulana, who disguised his intentions under the guise of religion. When the truth surfaced, the girl distanced herself from him. In retaliation, Aban Khan reportedly blackmailed her by making an obscene video and threatened to make it public to coerce her into converting her religion.

After the video went viral, chaos erupted across the town. Hindu organizations, including Bajrang Dal, along with thousands of traders, took to the streets, shutting down markets and staging protests outside the Maulana’s residence. Cars parked outside were vandalized, windows shattered, and the Kanpur-Sagar National Highway was blocked, disrupting traffic for hours. Protesters also besieged the Sumerpur police station, shouting slogans against the accused.

Law Enforcement Response

ASP Manoj Gupta and CO Sadar Rajesh Kamal, along with a police force, rushed to the scene, where minor scuffles occurred between officials and the crowd. Later, Sadar MLA Dr. Manoj Prajapati arrived to pacify the protesters, assuring them of strict action.

The police filed a case against Maulana Khan and his son Aban Khan under serious sections of the law, based on a formal complaint by the girl’s family. A police team, led by Inspector Anoop Singh, arrested Aban Khan near Devgaon in the Sumerpur area. During the arrest, the accused was injured by a police bullet and is currently receiving treatment in a government hospital.

The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns about the misuse of social media and issues related to coercion and religious manipulation in the region.
