Gwalior Tragedy: Fog Leads to Ambulance Crash, 2 Dead, 4 Injured

Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh: A tragic road accident occurred on the Ghati Gaon Highway in Gwalior when an ambulance carrying ITBP personnel collided with a stationary truck. The accident resulted in the deaths of two individuals, while four others sustained serious injuries. All the personnel were being transported from Shivpuri to Gwalior for medical treatment.

Accident Details

The mishap took place near the Ghati Gaon Forest Checkpost under the jurisdiction of Ghati Gaon Police Station. Preliminary reports suggest that dense fog and low visibility prevented the ambulance driver from noticing the stationary truck on the highway, leading to a rear-end collision. Upon receiving the information, a police team from FRB-44 rushed to the site, extricated the personnel trapped in the ambulance, and rushed them to Jayarogya Hospital (JAH) in Gwalior for immediate medical attention.

Victims Identified

Among the deceased, Raju Valmiki (40) succumbed to injuries on the spot, while Dinesh Sharma (34), an ITBP paramedical staff member, passed away during treatment at Jayarogya Hospital. The four injured—Savita (wife of Raju Valmiki), Manoj Sharma (35), Ramkishore Kushwaha (36), and Vimal Khangar (35)—are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Truck Seized, Driver Sought

Police investigating the accident have seized the truck, alleging it was negligently parked on the highway, and have filed a case against the driver, who is now being traced. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.

Journey from Shivpuri to Gwalior

All the ITBP personnel involved in the accident were stationed at the Shivpuri unit. They were being transported to Gwalior for medical treatment when the fatal collision occurred, highlighting the dangers of driving in dense fog conditions.
