Gwalior, MP: A horrifying incident has left the Jhansi Road area of Gwalior in shock, as the body of a 10-year-old child was found hanging in his room. The child, identified as Saurabh Kewat, studied in a private school and lived with his family in a rented house in Gaddha Mohalla. Police are investigating the case to determine whether it was suicide or a potential homicide.
Incident Details
Saurabh’s father, Kamal Kewat, works as a compounder at Gwalior Cancer Hospital. On the day of the incident, he had breakfast with his son and then left for work. Since Saurabh was alone at home, Kamal asked his friend, Pawan Dhakad, to check on the child. Later, Pawan received information that Saurabh was not opening the door. Upon entering the house with the help of a neighbor, they discovered the child hanging from a rope tied to a nail in his room.
Father Raises Suspicions
Kamal Kewat raised serious questions about the circumstances, stating that the height at which the rope was tied made it physically impossible for his son to hang himself. He suggested that the incident might be a carefully orchestrated act rather than a suicide. Other family members also expressed doubts, noting that there was no history of mental stress or domestic disputes in the household. The family had recently celebrated a joyous occasion, having purchased a new vehicle, which delighted Saurabh.
Police Investigation Underway
Police arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the report. The body was sent for post-mortem, and an investigation under the Section 174 of the CrPC has been initiated. Authorities are examining every angle, including the possibility that the death may have been staged to appear as a suicide.
The tragic event has left the local neighborhood in a state of shock and mourning. Residents and authorities alike are awaiting the results of forensic and police investigations to uncover the truth behind the child’s untimely death.
