
Gurugram: In a major traffic enforcement drive, Gurugram Traffic Police issued more than 13,000 challans in a single week, collecting over ₹1.22 crore in fines. The drive, conducted from 24 to 30 November under the #ChallanNahiSalamMilega campaign, also aimed to raise awareness among citizens about traffic rules.
Manual Enforcement:
During this period, 9,411 challans were issued manually. Key violations included:
- Wrong-side driving: 1,206
- Ignoring road markings: 523
- Pillion riders without helmets: 686
- Drivers without seat belts: 722
- Drivers without helmets: 627
- Drunk driving: 323
- Wrong parking: 582
- Dangerous U-turns: 213
- Triple riding: 127
- Overspeeding: 84
- Mobile phone use while driving: 60
- Noise pollution: 42
- Lane violations: 402
CCTV Surveillance:
In addition, 4,096 challans were issued through CCTV monitoring. Violations included:
- No entry: 142
- Overspeeding: 2,174
- Wrong-side driving: 4
- Lane violations: 1,537
- Drivers without helmets: 45
- Pillion riders without helmets: 46
- Drivers without seat belts: 101
- Front passenger without seat belt: 27
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Rajesh Mohan stated that strict enforcement against traffic violations will continue and urged citizens to adhere to road safety norms.
