Gunfire Erupts in Chatra Village Clash: Two Dead, NIA Accused Injured

Chatra, Jharkhand: A violent clash between two Naxalite factions shook Gendra village in the Kunda police jurisdiction late Sunday night, leaving two dead and three others seriously injured, including an accused linked to the NIA.

According to police sources, Devendra Ganjhu and his associates entered the residence of Shyam Bhokta over a personal dispute. Gunfire erupted, critically injuring Shyam Bhokta and his brother-in-law Gopal Bhokta. Devendra Ganjhu and his associate Churaman Ganjhu were killed on the spot.

Victims Referred to RIMS
The injured, Shyam and Gopal Bhokta, were first taken to Pratappur and Daltonganj hospitals, before being referred to RIMS, Ranchi, due to the severity of their injuries.

Criminal Backgrounds and Investigation
Devendra Ganjhu, a former member of TSPC, had 36 criminal cases registered against him. Shyam Bhokta, also associated with TSPC, is reported to be an NIA accused. Preliminary investigations suggest the clash stemmed from a personal feud between the two factions. Police have collected evidence from the site and deployed additional forces in the area as a precaution.
