
Ahmedabad/New Delhi: Gujarat continued its winning streak at the 77th Republic Day celebrations, as the state’s tableau secured the top spot in the “Popular Choice” category for the fourth consecutive year. This year’s tableau, themed “Mantra of Freedom: Vande Mataram,” was officially recognized at an award ceremony held at the National Stadium in New Delhi on Friday.
The trophy and certificate were presented by Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and received on behalf of the Gujarat government by Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr. Vikrant Pandey and State Information Commissioner Kishor Bachani. In addition, Gujarat’s cultural performance during the tableau-making process earned an Encouragement Award for its dance presentation at the national event, where artists from various states showcased their talent.
Tableau Designed in Gujarat
According to the Gujarat government, the 2026 tableau was constructed under the guidance of State Information Commissioner Kishor Bachani and Additional Information Director Arvind Patel, with supervision by Joint Information Director Dr. Sanjay Kachot and Deputy Director of the Film Production Branch Bhavna Vasava.
Gujarat has a history of success at the Republic Day celebrations:
- 2023: “Clean Green Energy Gujarat” tableau won the Popular Choice Award for promoting renewable energy initiatives.
- 2024: “Dhorado – World Best Tourism Village” secured the Popular Choice Award and second place in the Jury’s Choice category.
- 2025: “Anartpurthi – A Unique Blend of Heritage and Modern Development” also earned the Popular Choice Award under the inspiration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
With this fourth consecutive win in 2026, Gujarat has established a record of excellence in national Republic Day tableau presentations, celebrating the state’s rich heritage and progressive development in a creative and widely appreciated manner.
